partnership with Cosmos International College at Palikhe Chowk, Pokhara-4 on 23
February 2007.It is our honour that the Virtual Library will officially be

British Council Nepal has been offering library and information services for
its users for more than 47years, services which have been well received since
the beginning. As there is rapid development of information technology in the
field of library and information services, British council Nepal first
introduced electronic services in 1998. This was the year when we completed our
full automation and became the fully automated library in Nepal.
When we moved to new premises in 2000, we took the opportunity to expand
electronic services to targeted users by offering online databases members of
the library uses this service at the British Council library in Kathmandu
through 10 computers until September 2006. In October 2006, we introduced an
additional services, and how now a member can member can access the online
services from home or work 24/7.
To fulfill the growing demand for British Council services from outside
Kathmandu and to support the British Council's strategy of "Reaching Millions
More People", we decided to expand our electronic services outside Kathmandu and
chose Pokhara for our first virtual library.
